Stands Apart is our off the farm purchase from Stohlquist Showpigs that we teamed up with Hartzell Family Livestock to bring to Upperhand. He is a littermate to Lonesome and was an impressive litter from the start. Sired by All by Myself and he is off to an amazing first crop and winning at all levels. Stands Apart offers so many similar things as his sire, yet adds even more out there pieces. His mother is a gilt that was shown by Ethan Stohlquist in 2022 and was named 3rd Overall Yorkshire at Expo. Stands Apart's littermate gilt was shown by the Fordice family and was named 4th Overall Yorkshire gilt at the 2023 Expo. Stohlquist has been the most dominant and influential herdmark in the Yorkshire breed in the past 7-10 years. We have been lucky enough to own some of those key and influential sires, but this one sticks all of the sires in one pedigree and is very impressive!!!!

Stands Apart is a great combination boar in terms of being able to make both barrows and big ring show gilts. Starting from the side is is tall fronted and level made with great length of hip. Up high, and he carries muscle and width out of his shoulder and ties in good at his ham lion look up. Takes the squareness and width to the ground coming and leaving you with width with heaviness of bone and great foot size. Angle to shoulder is right and can flex and reach behind. Sometimes making Yorkshires that are sound yet have the extras is hard but we feel this boar can do that and make them STAND APART!!!
